To conclude my last couple months of research on data visualization– I undertook creating a long-form, data-driven article about the rise of social isolation. 

I find this topic interesting, because it’s something I feel like I’ve witnessed happen in real time for myself and those I’m close with, and in recent time, I think I’ve witnessed the reverse.

For this project I made 8 data visualizations, spanning maps, charts and tables. I honestly only started with like 5, but as I was working, I kept seeing the need for more charts to explain some of the data I had.

Honestly, what I had the hardest time with was finding the raw data for a lot of my points. I found so many scientific articles that would’ve been useful to me, but they often didn’t have the data available, so I’d have to find another source to back up my point.

While it took quite a bit of research to get all of the information I needed, in the end, I got diverse perspectives and data on the issue of social isolation all around the world.
